CT LILL: Connecticut’s Leadership
Initiative for Language Learning

Mission statement: 

The purpose of this CT COLT committee is to foster leadership within the state of Connecticut in the area of World Languages for current, retired and aspiring leaders. This committee meets six times per year to collaborate with leaders from around our country, learn about research-based Core Practices and share resources to improve educator effectiveness. Meetings provide an opportunity for leadership through active learning.  There will be an interactive agenda with readings to activate prior knowledge, a presentation by an expert from around the States, followed by an interactive reflection activity and group sharing.  


Meeting Design: 75 minutes

  • -ACTIVATE Participants learn independently and synthesize ideas from reading
  • -THINK Time for new learning with expert
  • -REFLECT Each person reflects on the 4 A’s (Ask, Agree, Argue, Apply)
  • -SHARE Peer Collaboration

7th Live CT LILL Webinar - Target Language in the Classroom

On February 21st from 4:00-5:15 EST, we will explore another Core Practice; Use the target language as the vehicle and content of instruction with a dynamic high school and college Spanish teacher and former ACTFL ToY from Illinois, Linda Egnatz. 

Please take time to read the two short readings about feedback and answer the questions on the interactive Google Doc with the agenda during the week.  We may be able to create an important resource to help other educators expand their repertoire to include more descriptive feedback.

The first link to the agenda is where you will write your reflections and address the questions and the second link will be live on the day of our GoTo Meeting.  The readings are listed below:

We explored another Core Practice; provide feedback in speech and writing on various learning tasks.  Our WL expert, Dr. Frank Troyan, led us through the types of corrective feedback and also explored the qualities of effective feedback.
