CT COLT Cadre of PD Facilitators

  Mission Statement

The CT COLT Cadre of PD Facilitators promotes and supports the professional growth of all Connecticut language teachers by serving as a centralized source of information for PD opportunities, fostering communication between those offering and those requesting PD opportunities, and organizing collaborative work sessions focused on specific areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment on a regular and ongoing basis statewide.

Belief Statements

We believe that one of the roles of CT COLT is to promote opportunities for teacher growth and development.
We believe that the CT COLT Cadre of PD Facilitators:

1. should promote and foster teacher collaboration statewide

2. should provide information to teachers about the availability of professional development opportunities beyond work sessions

3. should serve to connect educators who offer and who are seeking professional development opportunities

We believe that focused collaborative teacher work sessions:

1. are a highly effective vehicle for individual professional growth

2. have a direct positive impact on student learning

3. promote unity of purpose and practice

4. strengthen the overall programs offered by departments, schools, and districts

5. are a catalyst for creativity and innovation

6. lead to professional success and satisfaction

7. develop a sense of shared responsibility and professional respect

8. allow teachers to realize ideas that have an immediate positive impact on their instructional practice

9. provide a vehicle for the communication and dissemination of best practices
10. acknowledge teachers as respected experts and accomplished professionals
