2024 Poetry Recitation Contest Header (Medium Banner (US) (Landscape))

The Connecticut Council of Language Teachers presents its annual Poetry Recitation Contest in honor of Paul M. St. Louis every March. This is a popular event with hundreds of CT students from many schools across the state participating virtually on Zoom. Students compete by reciting poetry selected from the slates (listed below, according to language level). There are poetry slates available in the following languages: Albanian, Ancient Greek, Arabic, ASL, Mandarin Chinese, ESOL/ML, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Kannada, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Tamil.

We welcome teacher participation to help make this event possible - please consider joining the committee to review and revise poetry slates and judge!

Participating teachers and students must be from a CT school.

If you are interested in developing a poetry slate in a language that is not listed, please contact StudentEvents@ctcolt.org.
